Revenue Management for non-Revenue Managers
Cornwall Training Day – June 17th 2025
Bespoke Revenue training and thinking Beyond rooms revenue

Under bright Cornish skies, two back-to-back events hosted by Revenue by Design and the Cornwall Hospitality Collective (CHC) brought together the region’s hospitality professionals for a much-needed focus on commercial growth, fresh thinking, and community connection.
The first, Revenue Management for Non-Revenue Managers, was a full-day training session created specifically for CHC members. Held at the historic Scorrier House, an elegant and tranquil setting that set the tone for a productive and informal day, the course welcomed a wide mix of attendees from across the sector, including general managers, front-of-house leaders, and even a representative from Newquay Airport.
The session had been developed from scratch to reflect the realities of the Cornish market, and in accordance with feedback from CHC members about what would be well suited to their members. The format combined insight, tools, and open discussion and, by design, far less maths than some were expecting.
“I thought we’d be buried in spreadsheets,” said one attendee. “But instead, it was engaging, hands-on and full of real-world scenarios I recognised from my own business.”
The day was made possible thanks to the generous support of RoomPriceGenie and Pair, whose sponsorship allowed ticket prices to be kept low for local hoteliers. “We’re incredibly grateful to both partners,” said Ally Northfield from Revenue by Design. “Their support meant we could make the event accessible without compromising the quality or the depth of the training.”
The following morning, we returned to Scorrier House for the third edition of Driving Revenue – a free, informal networking event for more experienced revenue managers and commercial leads following on from 2 successful events held in 2024.
This time, the conversation shifted toward exploring non-traditional revenue streams and future-facing ideas. A performance snapshot of the regional market set the scene, before attendees dove into fresh perspectives on topics like rethinking car park space as a commercial asset, exploring the ethics and exploring the opportunities of dynamic F&B pricing.
The format encouraged lively discussion, with people sharing successes, challenges, and honest opinions in a room full of peers. “The ‘beyond rooms revenue’ made for really interesting debate,” said one participant. “It felt like a real community—people learning from each other, but also being willing to challenge old habits.”
“This is exactly what CHC was created for,” said James Cavanagh-Shaddock
“Creating space for open, practical conversations about how we grow and adapt as a sector, especially here in Cornwall.”
Both events reflected the appetite for more commercial thinking within the region’s hospitality businesses and the value of bringing people together in a relaxed, supportive environment.
We’re already looking ahead to what’s next and look forward to welcoming even more of the community to future sessions.
